Cambridge Interiors

Cambridge Interiors was first established in 1992 as 'Classic Curtains'. In 2005, Jon became the third owner having spent 15 years at John Lewis. Jon has worked in several departments, and his final role in JL was as the manager of the soft furnishings and carpet dept.

So what prompted a move? "I'd reached a level where I was missing the most enjoyable part, which was serving the customers. Also, nothing is more challenging than having your own business and I wanted that opportunity. I took the plunge and left a safe job, but I have absolutely no regrets!"

In 2007, Jon moved the store two doors up into the current premises which is 3 times larger and took on carpets. In his time with JL, Jon has completed some unusual projects including carpeting HMS Warrior on the south coast. "It's one thing coming across a house with uneven walls - try fitting carpets around cannons!"

Jon continues to run Cambridge Interiors with the help of his colleague Phil, who previously spent over 20 years at JL, his team behind the scenes and with his wife Amanda.
